Snowpark, ice rink, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in winter; mountain biking, hiking and panoramic views at 2,400 m in summer, cable car open year-round.
At 820 m altitude, this small village of around a hundred residents marks the entrance to the Orlu valley and lives at the pace of the Oriège river, which flows through it before joining the Ariège in Ax-les-Thermes. Here you'll find a stone Roman bridge, a 17th-century Romanesque church dedicated to the Visitation, and the Château d'Orgeix, whose silhouette is reflected in Lake Campauleil. The river also offers catch-and-release fishing stretches renowned for brown trout. Right next door, the Haras des Cimes offers horseback rides on Mérens horses, plus pony rides for little ones.
A natural gem of the Ariège Pyrenees, the Orlu valley is home to a national reserve renowned for its preserved wildlife, where you can spot chamois, marmots and birds of prey, along with numerous marked trails leading to mountain refuges and lakes. Also discover the Maison des Loups, with its wolves living in semi-freedom, and get your thrills at Akrobranch d'Orlu, the largest adventure park in Ariège, with zip lines, via ferrata and tree-top courses above the Oriège's rushing waters.
